Another spring craft. I absolutely adore cherry blossoms so I couldn’t resist doing this craft with Kirsten. It actually looks amazing, you’d never guess it was a preschool art project. I love it’s 3D effect. Here’s what you’ll need:
brown or black paint – watered down with equal parts paint to water
straw
paper or canvas
pink tissue paper
glue
Mix your paint with equal parts water. Put a glob on one side of your canvas. Using the straw, blow the paint/water mixture so it starts branching out. You can do as little or as much as you want – we went a little overboard, but I think it looks great. Allow paint to dry. Cut your pink tissue paper into small squares. Crumple up the small squares (this was Kirsten’s favourite part) and glue onto branches. Done!

I love how that turned out!
Thank-you! It looks awesome in person.
So pretty! You should frame that- it’s a work of art!
I just stumbled over your blog and I love it! So fun, I will definitely be doing these crafts with my son!
Loved this project! We tried it out today and used popcorn instead of tissue paper. My son LOVED blowing with the straw to make the tree branches.

I am pinning nearly everything. My girl and I are going to have so many fun projects to do soon!
Thanks Maria!
Oh, I LOVE this! I’m going to link to it tomorrow when I share resources for Chinese New Year–do you mind if I put up one of your pictures and link it to this post? Let me know! Again, nice work–I love this!
Thanks Carla! I don’t mind at all if you share this. Thanks for asking!
Jill, I can’t wait to start doing this with the little girl I nanny during the summer! Might also have to pass this idea on to the Art teacher I work with…I’ve seen her do thumbprint cherry blossom trees with the kiddos, this would be a change!
Thanks Ms. Jessica! Have fun with it.
